LAUGHTER IN ASHBY–DE–LA-ZOUCH

Funhouse Comedy is back at the Lyric Rooms, Ashby-de-la-Zouch on Thursday May1st for more fun and laughter.

Topping the bill is British Comedian of the Year Finalist, Greek comedian George Zach who has supported Luisa Omielan on tour. After gaining a degree in England he decided not to return to his home on a Greek Island. Instead, he chose to follow his passion for comedy, live in Newcastle and now entertains audiences with his funny Geordie observations.

Opening the night will be the sometimes self-disparaging musical comedian, Friz Frizzle with his individual anecdotes and speedily delivered song parodies.

Also appearing will be Shazia Mirza, an international award-winning comedian and columnist for the Guardian Weekend magazine who has also guested on ‘Have I Got News For You?’ From Birmingham, she was previously a science teacher with one of her former pupils being the rapper Dizzee Rascal. Star of radio and TV she has appeared on ‘Last Comic Standing’, ‘Richard and Judy’ and ‘The Wright Stuff’. Shazia’s distinctive act combines a deadpan delivery with observation on her world; her laconic one-liners represent something quite unique in modern comedy.

Completing the line-up is ‘Aussie’ comedian Hamish Shepherd a finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year, known for his dark sarcastic style.

Compere for the night is the lively and likeable Spiky Mike. Tickets are £16 in advance.

The curry is served with rice, naan, and onion bhaji, £9.50, and there is always a dessert option at £4.50.

Ice creams served during the first interval at £3.50.
